Katherine Hillier grew up in a picturesque rural farming village, but only ever a 30 minute bus journey into urban Northampton town. This triggered a lifelong fascination with contrasts which fuels her work today, where she explores the macabre and the mundane with the sexual, the mythical, the kitsch, and the ridiculous. She wants her work to be striking just as much as it raises a smile. Katherine loves color as much as line and detail, always willing to try new approaches to creating imagery and narratives.
