Jane Dottie Vintage (www.janedottie.com

Tatyana ZW Alanis started her thriving vintage shop in 2019 to “combat fast fashion and bring quality sustainable styles to her community” (www.janedottie.com/about). She hand makes and fulfills orders from her home in Fort Worth, TX. Although widely famous for her extravagant and eye-catching scrunchies, sold in sizes mini up to extra-large, Jane Dottie Vintage also sells vintage band tees, face masks, hair accessories, and more. More recently, Tatyana introduced a scrunchie headband with a small size option for everyday wear, and a large size for when you want to feel like a queen. The scrunchies, masks, and other handmade items are made with deadstock fabrics in order to prevent fashion waste. Along with her own creations, Tatyana also stocks her younger sister Ryann’s handmade candles, providing her sister with a creative outlet and a look into the world of business. All in all, this curated vintage and sustainable shop is a great choice for your fashion needs, and wants.

NELLO Vintage (www.nellovintage.com)

NELLO Vintage was created by Chanelle Harris, combining her name with the lotus flower, this shop was inspired by her “own spiritual journey” (nellovintage.com/about) where she learned self-love and creative expression. Chanelle’s vintage shop sells blazers, dresses, button down tops, fashion accessories, and much more. The website states "NELLO is a curated thrift brand that is non-binary to any form of fashion and promotes positive self-love with sustainable clothing through artistic expression." Not only is NELLO sustainable, it’s also an inclusive company. Most online shops label clothing items for “women” and “men”, but NELLO Vintage doesn’t assign clothing to a certain gender. The pieces on the site are vibrant and expressive, ranging from a Velvet Ostrich Feather top to Zebra Print Capris. NELLO Vintage is making fashion fun and exciting rather than a monotonous routine, so pick something up and push yourself out of your comfort zone a bit.

Nxc Vintage Shop (www.nxcvintageshop.com)

NXC Vintage Shop is an online store based in North Carolina. Founder Avry got the idea for the shop after thrifting every weekend and realizing she didn’t have enough closet space for her unique finds. Instead of donating the clothing items and continuing the wasteful fashion loop, Avry decided to sell the leftover clothes on her Poshmark and Instagram account. After gaining a following, she moved to Depop and Etsy before finally creating her own website. Avry began her shop selling pieces that were different from her own style, but after her followers started asking about her own funky wardrobe, she decided to start selling things she would wear herself. The change in direction allowed others to branch out with their clothing and introduce more color into their wardrobe. The vintage shop consists of tops, lingerie, outerwear, dresses, suits, bottoms, and swimwear and there’s a new clothing drop every Friday at noon Eastern time. There are lots of beautiful and timeless vintage items like a polka dot bathing suit or a lilac organza skirt to liven up your looks. The store also has a variety of sizing, with a vintage slip dress in a size 40, as well as petite sizes, so more people are able to purchase from this spunky shop.

Vintage store Elia Vintage was founded by Amber Glaspie in 2019. The curated shop includes a lot of neutral colors and more classy, upscale fashion with name brand clothing from places like Chanel and Cavalli. Although this shop is more expensive than the other shops mentioned, their clothing is well made and will last you a long time. Considering that every item on the shop is sold out, it’s clear that others are willing to pay more for pieces they can wear for many seasons to come. Since the clothes sell out fast, Elia Vintage has provided a mailing list in order to hear about new items first and have a chance to try out one of their pieces. Along with being well made, most of the clothing consists of suits and blazers, and less of casual t-shirts and jeans, so you should check out this shop when you want a put together outfit or to feel like a classy lady. With 100% linen and silk items, Elia Vintage is a shop that cares about the quality of their pieces, ensuring that their customers get the most wear out of the items they purchase.

Yam NYC (www.yamnyc.com)

Yam NYC is a vintage shop that upcycles old jewelry into elegant pieces, and also hand makes pieces too. Their inventory consists of materials like pearls and gold, so it’s possible to wear their pieces daily rather than just for special occasions or times when you want to make a statement. Some of their accessories have flowers painted on them and there are some colorful pieces, but the majority of the items are dainty and classic. The items are handmade in Astoria, NY where the founder Morgan Thomas is located. According to Morgan, “Yam is an ode to my late mother, upcycled materials and new nostalgia,” (www.yamnyc.com/about) a combination that is evident in each of Morgan’s beautiful pieces. Next time you want to invest in beautiful jewelry that will still be fashionable in the next few years, check out Yam NYC and be happy knowing that your dollar went towards a company that cares about the integrity of jewelry.
